Because we assimilate too much data to really process
We drift apart without even noticing just like the stars
In our younger days and earlier times we sailed abreast
Caught up together on the same current, we hung on tight
Because our opinions didn't matter in that halcyon light
Now corporate controlled media outlets have corroded
The bonds that formerly kept us hitched across the rapids
No amount of white water turbulence could separate us then
Once upon a time we were free to match each other's energy
Nowadays its not so easy trapped in our isolated perches
While our heads get respectively filled with senseless data
Strained through the digital filters of the world wide web
Brothers will drift further apart while friendships fade
Like old black and white photographs blurring over time
Please don't forget me and the way we used to be together
When our individual knowledge was valued not denigrated
I beg of you don't let the senseless tide of online information
Allow our minds to drift further apart even if we're all fated
To die in this realm separated and alone remember I am here
Just as you are present in this moment expanding across time
So let's not let ourselves fall prey to this illusion we're drifting apart
Without ever noticing we share this experience in the same boat
Just come to accept this vessel's not what we thought it was really
At the end of the day the metaphors drift away revealing we're here
Together like stranded starfish inches apart an eternity of distance
What continues to matter remains how we regard one another
As fellow soulmates taunted by our separate prison cells adrift
On distinct courses whose brief intersections during our youth
First introduced us to one another and even if we understood
Then that we'd never part you my brother will remain in my heart
Just as I know I'll be kept inside yours even after the cold distance
Between us becomes permanent and our corresponding signals lost
I will never forget the love we will always have for one another
