We Drift Apart Without Even Noticing Just Like The Stars

by  shaun lawton

Because we assimilate too much data to really process
We drift apart without even noticing just like the stars
In our younger days and earlier times we sailed abreast
Caught up together on the same current, we hung on tight
Because our opinions didn't matter in that halcyon light
Now corporate controlled media outlets have corroded
The bonds that formerly kept us hitched across the rapids
No amount of white water turbulence could separate us then
Once upon a time we were free to match each other's energy
Nowadays its not so easy trapped in our isolated perches
While our heads get respectively filled with senseless data
Strained through the digital filters of the world wide web
Brothers will drift further apart while friendships fade
Like old black and white photographs blurring over time
Please don't forget me and the way we used to be together
When our individual knowledge was valued not denigrated
I beg of you don't let the senseless tide of online information
Allow our minds to drift further apart even if we're all fated
To die in this realm separated and alone remember I am here
Just as you are present in this moment expanding across time
So let's not let ourselves fall prey to this illusion we're drifting apart
Without ever noticing we share this experience in the same boat
Just come to accept this vessel's not what we thought it was really
At the end of the day the metaphors drift away revealing we're here
Together like stranded starfish inches apart an eternity of distance
What continues to matter remains how we regard one another
As fellow soulmates taunted by our separate prison cells adrift
On distinct courses whose brief intersections during our youth
First introduced us to one another and even if we understood
Then that we'd never part you my brother will remain in my heart
Just as I know I'll be kept inside yours even after the cold distance
Between us becomes permanent and our corresponding signals lost
I will never forget the love we will always have for one another

From what do you believe truth is derived?

It was a random question posited by someone on the internet.
So I chose out of a sense of purest respect to write the following
Verse so to speak as a concerted response given the caveat >insert
Latin / etc. denomination clarifying spiritus contra la problema here< 'deadpan onymous,' detachment / possession, state of granting innocence  5th amendment silence remains the golden means of survival

It's no coincidence then that silence remains
the soundtrack of our lives for who are we
at all if not the fittest who managed to survive

Let's unpack this  question.  {keeping in mind
the caveat, that in deciding to respond in the privacy
of my domain, the opportunity for the questioner's response gets denied. However I tried to scroll back to find the original post
Alas, I could not, hence this one-sided reflection
 of what I believe was an excellent question.}

First, the assertion that there's a derivation that could qualify. Then, the notion that auxiliary verbs could help, when we know that they don't, so forget the idea of belief, whether in nothing or otherwise.

Are you really in the process of doing it?
I conclude with the beginning, from what, the source
of the derivation?  This is a trick question.
No one in their right absence of mind
would fall for it, the very notion reeks

 of patriarchal autocratic defimination
but I digress … there would have to be
a conviction that self even exists, much less
be gifted with the power to believe
what appears to be the truth, anyhow

was a question asked over a bowl of sand
left rippled into dunes by the wind
like the long shadow cast by the setting
flaming, double edged sword
as if there could be a metaphorical analog
to smithing tools, hammers, anvils and forges

or that which remains unknown could be cloaked
in a symbolic firmament, a significant sigil
Whatever remains the truth doesn't necessarily
have to have issued from anything because
wrapped in eternity's guise there'd be no way

of telling the tale unless it were repeated
so many times and forgotten while being lost
along the flowing route of the signals carried
away into the distant event horizon
where it gets swallowed by the blackest holes

I don't exist enough to fulfill a belief which
might get granted, maybe a reflexive form of defense
shielding from the dreaded invisible sheared off razor
icicle obsidian edged blade winking starlight
blinding me into the power of belief which happens to

possesses me on occasion to try and attempt
a response to questions like this
only to be reminded that more often than not
the questions themselves are at fault for lack
of a broader context in which to relatively

balance out the equation, you know what
I'm saying, to which thankfully, as far as I can see
there's no need for us to worry since any delusion
our psyches can conjure may serve as the placebo
to lose ourselves in the mirrored labyrinth

echoed through the passages of our perception.
I mean, that's just the story of our life. We must
ask ourselves if its really true with no one else to answer. I don't expect this response to fulfill the whole question but I do hope beyond faith that it points in the right direction.
